The Daniel JeanRichard Bressel 1665 Tourbillon watch pays tribute to the spirit of legendary master watchmaker Daniel JeanRichard, and indeed, the entire spirit of exceptional watchmaking. This spectacular timepiece provides a showcase for the most celebrated complication in the repertoire of haute horlogerie---the tourbillon. Conceived at the turn of the 19th century to annul the negative effects exerted by gravity upon the escapement of pocketwatches, the tourbillon soon became as celebrated for its difficulty, as it was for its purpose of creation; even today, with the aid of modern technology, the construction of a fine tourbillon watch is the exclusive preserve of only the most talented and skilled watchmakers.
