MeisterSinger No O1 One Hand

The founder and designer of the MeisterSinger, Manfred Brassler attracted a lot of attention with his timepieces already at the start. His first collection of wrist watches which were introduced in 2001 announced the brand’s unique and new approach to time display which can be described as simple, elegant, clean, minimalistic, unusual, amazing but definitely not as ordinary. The brand become a major success in a very short period, while its most popular and most recognizable timepiece – the MeisterSinger No 1 won several awards and was proclaimed the watch of the year 2004 in the Netherlands.
Manfred Brassler found an inspiration for his most popular and the most successful wrist watch (so far) in the 17th century. Thus the MeisterSinger No 1 represents a revolutionary approach to time display and a return to the original timekeeping at the same time. The very first measurements of time – the sundials as well as the first modern mechanical watches featured only one hand and from that point of view the MeisterSinger approach to time display is actually more original than the conventional two hand timepieces. The company follows the motto less is more and rejects the superfluous decoration of watches which should only serve their main purpose – time display.
The MeisterSinger No 1 is notable for having a single hand. Despite that it enables very easy time reading to five-minute accuracy due to very accurate single hand, large and clean numerals and numeral markings on the dial. The dial is divided by 144 markers with each mark representing 5 minutes. Both the dial and needle like hand come in different colour versions: white silver/black, black/white, black/red gold and ivory/black. The stainless steel case with 43 mm in diameter houses ETA20801-2 manually wound movement. Glass base is secured by screws and is water resistant to 10 meters (33 feet). Apart from the numerals, markings and single hand the watch’s dial does not display any special features except for very discrete name of the brand and model. The design of the MeisterSinger No 1 is minimalistic and clean making the watch a truly unique timepiece.
The company has also released a limited series (5 x 111) of the MeisterSinger No 1 at fifth anniversary of MeisterSinger in 2006. Five versions of Jubilee Edition ED106 feature a fluorescent coating of dials, numeral markings and the hand greatly improving time reading at low light. Like the classic MeisterSinger No 1 models, all Jubilee Edition ED106 with Sellita SW Swiss automatic movement with Geneva stripes serve exclusively time display.

Off-centered hour, minute and sub-second display are semi-encircled by the retrograde annual calendar which actually makes the watch so special in compare to other luxury watches although Octa Calendrier offers a lot more than just an impressive calendar display. The case in diameter 30,80 mm houses an automatic winding caliber 1300.3 movement, 22 carat gold rotor and engine turned guilloche dial.
